Rtveli Experience: Grape Harvest, Pressing & Kakhetian Dinner
Join the traditional Georgian grape harvest known as Rtveli and experience one of the country’s most important cultural traditions. During the harvest season, vineyards in Kakheti come alive with families and friends gathering to pick grapes, prepare wine, and celebrate the end of the growing season.
Guests are invited to participate in the harvest by picking ripe grapes directly from the vineyard and learning about local grape varieties and traditional winemaking practices. One of the highlights of the experience is grape pressing using traditional methods, where participants can step into the press and help extract the fresh juice just as it has been done for generations.
After the harvest activities, the experience continues with a traditional Kakhetian dinner prepared with regional dishes and local wine. Gather around the table with your hosts, enjoy the food you helped inspire, and experience the warm hospitality that makes Rtveli not just a harvest, but a joyful celebration of community, food, and wine.
Pick-Up and Journey to Kakheti
Your day begins with a pick-up and a scenic drive toward a local family home in the Kakheti wine region. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed in the traditional Georgian way with small homemade snacks and a few glasses of chacha to lift the spirit and prepare everyone for the harvest ahead.
Heading to the Vineyard
After the warm welcome, walk together to the vineyard where the Rtveli harvest begins. Learn how grapes are picked and collected in baskets while working alongside your hosts. The atmosphere is lively and playful—expect friendly competitions, plenty of laughter, and lots of great photo moments among the vines.
Traditional Grape Pressing
Once the baskets are full, return to the family home where the grapes are prepared for pressing. Step into the traditional wooden press and experience the centuries-old method of crushing grapes by foot. The moment is often accompanied by singing and cheerful encouragement, creating a joyful and authentic harvest atmosphere.
Relaxation in the Garden
After the pressing, take some time to relax in the family garden. Enjoy a glass of local wine, share stories with your hosts, and soak in the peaceful surroundings of the countryside.
Kakhetian Feast
The experience continues with a traditional Kakhetian dinner. A generous table awaits with homemade dishes, freshly grilled barbecue, and plenty of wine. As the evening unfolds, the table becomes a celebration filled with toasts, laughter, music, and the warm spirit of Georgian hospitality.

The Rtveli grape harvest experience is seasonal and available from mid-August until late October, during the traditional grape harvest period in Kakheti.
