About this tour

This 3-day private tour from Kutaisi takes you to one of the most remote and culturally rich regions of Georgia—Svaneti. Known for its striking landscapes and ancient stone towers, Svaneti offers a rare chance to experience mountain life that still follows age-old traditions.

We begin with a scenic drive through the mountains toward Mestia, the heart of Svaneti. Along the way, you’ll enjoy quiet photo stops, small village visits, and a freshly prepared lunch featuring local flavors. In Mestia, you’ll have time to explore traditional architecture, visit the local ethnographic museum, and settle into a cozy guesthouse with beautiful views.

On the second day, we travel to Ushguli—one of the highest continuously inhabited villages in Europe, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Surrounded by dramatic peaks, this village is like a living museum, where life moves at its own pace. You’ll explore the area with your guide, visit ancient churches, and share lunch with a local family.

On the final day, we make our way back to Kutaisi, stopping for panoramic views and optional short walks. The tour is fully private, paced for comfort, and led by a licensed guide who shares insights into Svaneti’s culture, language, and daily life.

Remote and Unforgettable

I traveled solo and was a little unsure about a multi-day mountain trip, but everything was perfectly organized. The villages in Svaneti are like something from a fairy tale, and the hike above Mestia offered views I’ll never forget. Our driver was careful on the mountain roads, and the guesthouse felt like home.

Mountain Majesty in Svaneti

This tour to Svaneti was the absolute highlight of our trip to Georgia. We started from Kutaisi and watched the landscape change dramatically with every kilometer — by the time we reached Mestia, it felt like another world. Dito, our guide, was a true mountain man with great stories. The towers of Ushguli at sunrise? Pure magic.
