Leave behind the main road and head deep into the Caucasus mountains with a day tour from Kazbegi to Juta village — one of the highest and most picturesque settlements in Georgia. After a scenic 40-minute drive on a mix of paved and off-road tracks, you’ll arrive in this quiet alpine village at the foot of the Chaukhi mountain range.
From here, take a peaceful hike into the valley, surrounded by jagged peaks, colorful wildflowers, and grazing horses. The trail leads toward the base of the Chaukhi cliffs, often called the “Georgian Dolomites.” You’ll have time to relax at the Fifth Season mountain hut, enjoy local tea or snacks, or continue walking deeper into the valley for even more dramatic views.
This is a perfect day for those who want to experience real mountain silence, refreshing air, and a gentle hiking adventure.
Due to a partially blocked road, cars can currently reach only a point 2 km before Juta village. The hike begins from there — a gentle but steady uphill walk that takes 30–40 minutes to reach the village.
Once in Juta (2,200 m), continue walking toward the Fifth Season hut (about 15–20 minutes more). From there, the trail opens up into the Chaukhi Valley, with views of sharp mountain ridges, green slopes, and streams. You can hike as far as you wish — most travelers walk an additional 1–1.5 hours before turning back.
The hike is moderate, suitable for individuals with a reasonable level of fitness. It involves walking on uneven terrain and ascending gentle slopes over approximately 3-4 hours.
Comfortable hiking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, a hat, sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, snacks, and a small backpack are recommended. Trekking poles are optional but can be helpful.
Transportation is provided by a private 4x4 vehicle from Kazbegi to Juta, navigating mountain roads not accessible by regular cars.
The tour is best suited for physically active children aged 10 and above and adults who are comfortable with moderate hikes. Please consult us if you have specific health concerns.
Safety is our priority. In adverse weather conditions, we may adjust the itinerary or reschedule the tour.
